Military & Veteran Health RIG

Mission
As global leaders in nursing, we continue to deliver excellence and value in health care through military- and veteran-centered, evidence-based care. We strive to provide military service members, Veterans, and their families with the highest quality care by leveraging evidence-based practice, industry-leading research, and innovative care models.

Goals
1. Provide forums for discussion and critique of members’ work (papers, grants, abstracts, etc.)
2. Facilitate collaboration (publications, presentations, studies, secondary data analyses
3. Serve as research advocates and mentors
4. Facilitating the sharing of diverse ideas and resources for those service Veterans across the spectrum of the Health System.
5. A body of mutual supporters across the spectrum in promoting Military and Veteran Health

Who Should Join?
Nurse scientists and evidence-based practice scholars at all career stages who are interested in military and Veterans' health and want to build a culture of Veteran-centered research, knowledge, implementation science, holistic health, and mentorship.

Activites & Accomplishments
Podium and poster presentations and symposia.
Submitted an abstract for a workshop on exposure-informed care for the Annual Scientific Sessions.
Planning for participation in Scientific Sessions in future locations.
Met with the Director of Research, EBP, and Informatics from the Office of Nursing Service, Veterans Affairs, to share activities and discuss opportunities.
Supported robust discussions of challenges and opportunities and welcomed new members.
Exploring relationships with SNRS, WIN, and MNRS to advance knowledge and implementation science for military and Veterans with a national perspective.
