What advice would you give early-career researchers?

“Beginning the journey as an early-career nurse researcher is steeped with excitement, challenge, and represents the liminalities of becoming a scholar. In my experience, a few nuggets of advice as you navigate this process is to be a humble learner, network, and seek mentorship early on, but do not be disappointed and despair if the mentors and collaborators you come across do not prove to be as helpful and vested in your success as you imagined. Finding your supporters is analogous to dating, as it’s all about finding the right fit and accepting that there is an element of trial-and-error to it while also feeding that need for belonging, especially as a novice researcher in academia. I have found the Nurse Education Research Interest Group (RIG) at ENRS to be immensely helpful, so supportive, and lends itself to being an environment to meet like-minded professionals and offers opportunities to collaborate on research projects. You got this!”

Why do you attend the ENRS Annual Scientific Sessions?

My favorite things about attending the ENRS Annual Scientific Sessions is the opportunity to network with other nurse researchers by building connections with other PhD students, like-minded nurses, and potential mentors. I learn about the latest research and trends in nursing science. The keynote speakers are always interesting and inspiring. I can't wait for April!
